Perhaps it’s time to pound the drums more loudly than ever about what I think as the greatest medical fraud in our nation’s history. 30% of transgenders commit suicide because their mental disorders remain undiagnosed, and as such will not be treated.
I have long held that individuals who suffer from gender distress have one of handful of unresolved mental illnesses that exists side by side with their gender stress. The gender distress is not acting alone but binds with an additional co-morbid mental illness. “We found 90% of these diverse patients had at least one other significant form of “psychopathology” says a study reported in 2009 by the Department of Psychiatry, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. The psychopathologies they found in their study were “mood and anxiety regulation and adaption in the world”. (1)
Everywhere we see the constant rhetoric about gender change success and yet not one sound media report that acknowledges 30% of transgenders commit suicide because of untreated mental illness.
Suicide.org states that 90% of all suicides are the direct result of untreated mental illness.
What other treatment focuses on surgery while 30% of the patients commit suicide?
Frankly, the professional and media slobber all over themselves to maintain political correctness. Most of the voices and media blindly talk about the long-term value of a gender transition and hormones treatments, suggesting transgenders lives are improved when the truth is, their lives are often worse because of their untreated mental illness evidenced by their 30% suicide rate. The surgery has failed to resolve the gender distress and often elevates their anxiety and depression.
You can see for yourself this study (1) has concerns about those who care for transgendered adults and the media for spinning rhetoric that transsexualism is a civil rights issue. Concern because they do not disclose that nearly 90% of the time transgenders suffer serious mental issues, disorders that are causing their regret and premature deaths. An ongoing mental health issue, for sure.
As a transgender I do not feel transgenders have a legitimate civil rights issue but do have a legitimate mental health concern. If in fact we want to prevent their suicides we need to focus on the issues of suicides. Making transgenders a civil rights issue will not reduce suicides, not at all.
There are other studies, all ignored by the gender changing advocates. Studies from Sweden, Denmark and also a 2013 study showing 90% of transgenders have mental disorders consisting of depression and anxiety–known causes of suicide. These studies provide irrefutable evidence transgenders overwhelmingly suffer from untreated mental disorders. Gender surgery is not the required treatment for depression and anxiety or other transgender mental disorders.
The Swedish study concludes: “Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behavior” (2)
The Dutch study results state In 270 (75%) of these 359 patients, cross-gender identification was interpreted as an epiphenomenon of other psychiatric illnesses, notably personality, mood, dissociative, and psychotic disorders. Major mood disorders, dissociative disorders and psychotic disorders reported in 79% of transgenders. This should be alarming. (3)
The 2013 study results suggest there is a need for practitioners to focus on interventions in helping transgenders with coping skills (adaption in the world) in order to improve mental health for transgender individuals. (4)
But if the professionals who treat transgenders remain unwilling to “come out” about the mental disorders nothing will change in their diagnosis or treatment. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. They’ve got the insanity going on.
I’m not a doctor or a psychologist, but if I can see the overwhelming evidence showing that mental illness is behind gender stress, shouldn’t the medical professionals see it?
Insanity is to focus on XY and XX patterns, hormone treatments and surgery or born in the wrong body, when it’s mental illness.
