Job Summary:

The PreOp/PACU/Pre-Post Cath and Procedural Registered Nurse is responsible for providing skilled perioperative nursing care to adult and pediatric patients undergoing a variety of surgical and procedural interventions. This role involves patient recovery, monitoring, and assessment in preoperative, post-anesthesia care, and cardiac catheterization settings. The nurse must demonstrate proficiency in managing diverse cases including orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, urology, gynecology, general surgery, plastics, endocrinology, and ophthalmology. Strong clinical skills, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in Preoperative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization areas.
• Monitor and assess adult and pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia and procedures.
• Manage patient care for a wide range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, urology, gynecology, general surgery, plastics, endocrinology, and ophthalmology.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies and changes in condition.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and recovery progress.
• Participate in call rotations and work on holidays as required.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Proficiency in adult and pediatric patient recovery.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in perioperative nursing or procedural nursing settings.
• Familiarity with a broad range of surgical specialties and procedural care.
• Additional certifications related to perioperative nursing or specialty care.

Special Considerations:

• Must participate in call rotations and work holidays as scheduled.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet patient care needs.
• Work environment includes hospital perioperative and procedural areas.

Scheduling:

• Shift schedules may vary and require flexibility.
• Includes day, evening, and possibly weekend shifts depending on hospital needs.
• Call and holiday work are mandatory components of the schedule.
